Ministering at the Juvenile Justice Center - By Chaplain Smith
/I sat in the outer area of House 3 to have private conversation with a young man from Pod A. During this time, twenty boys from Pod B returned from the gym. However, the guard who had been with the boys in the gym did not notify the guard in House 3 that the boys would be returning. When this group of boys saw that someone from Pod A was in the outer area, the whole group ran toward me and the young man to beat him up. The guards called for help to pull the many boys off the one boy. I was not hurt at all. It is sad that the boys have a gang mentality. Please pray for the salvation of these boys—that they would know the peace of God, through Jesus Christ, in their hearts and in their relationships.
Another day I was asked to speak to a young man in the medical ward who was shot in the side of his head by another boy at Juvenile Justice Center. I didn’t know what to expect. The young man was very bright and intelligent. We talked about many things. Happy to say that he knew Jesus as his Savior. Please pray for this young man.
Would you prayerfully consider making a monthly or one-time gift to help us meet and fulfill the mission to which God has called us?
