Clothing Clients

What does a newly released inmate wear to his first job interview? Enter Dave Sudnick, creator and overseer of Dave’s Slack Shack, an integral part of True Freedom’s ministry to the homeless and those reentering society after incarceration. Impeccably organized, Dave’s Slack Shack feels like a formalwear store. Clients can select from dress and casual clothing to suit their needs for employment, court appearances, and everyday use. Dave recently outfitted a homeless man in appropriate attire for attending a family funeral. Later that week he provided dress clothing for the burial of a man who was murdered.

Dave Sudnick receives new and used clothing, as well as toiletry items, from a variety of sources, including individual donors, TF’s drop box, and the inventories of churches and other local ministries. While some items find their way to the Slack Shack, others are sent to homeless shelters and ministry partners such as Elizabeth Baptist Church, the Bishop Cosgrove Center, Lutheran Metropolitan Men’s Shelter, Haven Home Shelter, and Faith Baptist Church, where they are distributed to the poor in our city. Dave faithfully stewards items with excellence. Whether 33 bags of children’s school clothing or 500 tubes of sunscreen, he gets things to those who need them.

We praise God for the opportunity to clothe the poor in our city through your generous contributions. Please pray that men, women, and children would sense the love of Jesus through these practical blessings.

Would you prayerfully consider making a monthly or one-time gift to help us meet and fulfill the mission to which God has called us?
