The Gift of His Word

Reading is a gift that many take for granted. Unfortunately, many of the individuals we work with were never given this gift. God is using one volunteer, Ellen Naylor, to make a difference by teaching literacy at True Freedom.

One young lady attending our addiction recovery group has always had difficulty reading. Now, after weeks of Ellen’s tutoring, she is brimming with excitement about finally being able to read the Word of God! This same client recently lost custody of her children, so reading will be an immense help as she begins dealing with legal matters. Most importantly, however, she can now apply the salve of God’s Truth to her broken heart.

At a recent meeting, she asked Rae Borders if she could read a passage from 2 Samuel 22 to the entire group: “The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer…In my distress I called to the Lord; I called out to my God.  From His temple He heard my voice; my cry came to His ears…You, Lord, are my lamp; the Lord turns my darkness into light.”

The Lord is doing amazing things in our midst!  Would you prayerfully consider supporting True Freedom?
